The Best of London Jazz Festival #jazzface

Jazz face: those expressions that a jazz musician can’t help but make during a performance, when they’re contorting their face in odd ways to sing or play a saxophone or just feeling the intensity of the music. They can range from soulful and powerful to looking like someone just stepped on your foot. Everyone does it, from the greatest of the greats to the most occasional amateur. Jazz face is unintentionally hilarious but also awesome and uniquely jazz.

In the run-up to EFG’s London Jazz Festival (which ran from the 14th – 23rd November), EFG ran a competition called “show us your #jazzface” for the chance to win festival tickets. “Jazz face” was a running theme of the festival (well, even more than usual) and many wonderful #jazzfaces appeared on Twitter in the run-up to the festival and throughout.

But which were the best #jazzfaces from the festival itself? We here at London Blues & Jazz have rounded up the best of London Jazz Festival’s #jazzface for your enjoyment.

#jazzface from the audience counts as well – it’s just a different kind!

This one’s an artistic one:

This #jazzface group shot was too good not to include.
